HIV Prevention Program Funding Announcement ~ posted 10/14/2011

The Canton City Health Department announces the availability of funding for HIV Prevention Projects. The HIV Prevention funding is for a 1-year project period. The grant year will be January 1, 2012, through December 31, 2012, pending funding availability and satisfactory performance. These funds are received from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State of Ohio and are coordinated by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH).

Funding is appropriated for Region Four, which includes Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, Mahoning, Stark and Tuscarawas Counties. Agencies outside these communities will not be considered. This program is authorized under the Cooperative Agreement between the US Centers of Disease Control and Prevention and the ODH HIV/STD Prevention Program.

Grants can be made to governmental agencies and nonprofit entities concerned with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Each award is expected to average $10,000 to $30,000. Awards will be based upon the application review process which will be coordinated by the local health department in conjunction with the regional advisory group. An estimated five (5) grants will be awarded.
