Lead poisoning can be a health threat to young children under the age of six. In many cases lead poisoning shows no symptoms and may cause damage to a child's nervous system. In light of the recent recall of toys painted with leaded paint, the Canton City Health Department recommends that all children under the age of six be tested for lead poisoning.
The Canton City Health Department offers free lead testing of children. For dates and times of the Lead Testing Clinic, please contact the Nursing Division at 330-489-3322, or click here for a clinic schedule.
The Canton City Health Department tests homes for lead based paint hazards. For information about lead based paint hazards or for a fee schedule for home testing, please contact the Environmental Health Division at 330-489-3327.
