How to Protect Yourself  Flu Facts
Vaccine Information Statement - Inactivated
Vaccine Information Statement - Live, Intranasal

Flu Vaccine
It is not too late to get a flu shot.  Flu season runs through spring, so make sure you are protected!

There is no charge for this vaccine.

Pneumonia Vaccine
Pneumonia vaccine is recommended for individuals 65 years of age and older and persons over two years of age who have a chronic disease or are immunocompromised.

Usually one dose of Pneumovax is all that is needed.  However, under some circumstances a second dose may be given.

  • A second dose is recommended for those people age 65 and older who got their first dose when they were under 65, if five or more years have passed since that dose.

  • A second dose is also recommended for people who:
        - have a damaged spleen or no spleen
        - have sickle-cell disease
        - have HIV infection or AIDS
        - have cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma
        - have kidney failure
        - have nephrotic syndrome
        - have had an organ or bone marrow transplant
        - are taking medication that lowers immunity (such as chemotherapy or long-term steroids)

Children ten years old and younger may get this second dose three years after the first dose.  Those older than ten should get it five years after the first dose.

You must have a prescription from your physician to receive this vaccine.

There is no charge for this vaccine

Tdap Vaccine
Because adults are a reservoir for pertussis, parents, grandparents, and caretakers (day care staff of children 0 - 5 years old) should receive an adult dose of Tdap vaccine if it has been at least five years since a previous dose of tetanus-containing vaccine.

There is no charge for this vaccine.

Please contact the Nursing Division at 330-489-3322 with questions or for times of immunization clinics, or click here for our clinic schedule.
