Enteric Illness Report received with confirmed Giardia. Patient consumed queso blanco cheese and sour cream purchased from |
this location. Patient did not know brand name of food items or dates when they were purchased. |
|
An investigation was conducted. No TCS food items were found in the store on this date. The items found on March 9, 2016, were |
removed from the freezer at this location and placed into a freezer next door. The frozen goods were being held for pickup and |
return to obtain credit. Pastries and loaves of bread were available for sale that were unpackaged and did not bear a label. |
Owner, Claudia Reyna Vega, stated that she was in the process of packaging the bread when we arrived. Bread bags were |
available near the bread, but labels were not. An old, moldy loaf of bread was found sitting on top of a wooden display case. |
It did not bear a label, either. (Pictures available.) At the consultation on March 9, 2016, Claudia was informed that all |
repackaged non-TCS food must bear a label, and that she is not permitted to re-package any food on site until she submits her |
label to the Canton City Health Dept. for approval. She has not submitted any labels to CCHD. |
